She Ruled

I wasn’t one of Her subjects but She ruled. In every sense of the word. Throughout my whole life. It’s the end of the world as I knew it.

Beyond grief I am also saddened because She represented a lot of admirable values I find so lacking in today’s society. For me Her passing is symbolic and I think Her absence will be felt by the whole world. Whether you knew of Her or not, supported the institution of the monarchy or not I happen to believe that She was a force of nature for good, rarely in the public eye but constantly behind the scenes in all of our lives.

She was the living embodiment of my favourite fictional character type, the reluctant hero. She came to the throne unexpectedly and embraced the role and fate history had in store for Her with unbelievable grace, strength, and sense of duty.

I am consoled by seeing the unanimous reactions and payments of respect from people of all walks of life and persuasions all around the world on the news of Her passing. Even in Her death She is a great uniter.

Thank you Ma'am!
